Our Christmas was a cozy one this year. Brendan and I gathered around our mini tree, watched It's A Wonderful Life and opened presents at midnight on Christmas Eve. I got some really cool gifts this year; a necklace from the Brooklyn flea, patterned ski mittens, wool socks, leather moccasins, a red Swiss army knife (to defend myself on the streets of BK!) and a great sheepskin hat with wool lining to keep me warm during the winter months. Oh I also received a couple books from Strand (Breakfast at Tiffany's - seen the movie, never read the book - and some short stories by Japanese fiction writer, Murakami. Looking forward to reading these on my train rides to work.
Christmas day was nice. Matt and Agnus drove into town and we took the train into the city to see the big tree at Rockefeller Center and all the beautiful window displays off 5th. Later on, we had a nice dinner at Sichuan Gourmet... we ordered plates of spicy hot foods which included stir-fried pork belly with chilis and leeks, fish fillets with napa cabbage and chili oil, beef chow fun and spinach with garlic sauce. It was hot and delicious and we'll be munching on left overs later today I'm sure.
