Hanging in the Heights

Greetings! Just a few photos taken around our humble little 'hood of Prospect/Crown Heights... lots of cool places sprouting up in the area, like the Glass Shop, which was once a windows repair shop, but recently converted into a cool little coffee joint. Then there's the Park Delicatessen which will open 3/26. It's a flower/skate/antiques one-stop shop which I'm really excited about. I guess the space has been vacated for a while now (it was a deli back in the 90s) so happy to see that the little store front will be revived.

And just a couple blocks down, B and I had breakfast for the first time at Tom's Restaurant est 1936 over on Washington Ave. Perfectly poached eggs, ham and grits, and they give you coffee and sausage bits while you're waiting to get seated. Now we know why the line wraps around the block on Saturday mornings - no joke!

Also, I've included a pic of Chevella's - one of our favorite Mexican places in BK, Oxaca style - and are local bodega where you can pick up a tasty breakfast sandwich in the morn. Happy to be in the Heights!

Herald Square NYSC

Here is the crazy view from my gym which is on the 25th floor on 34th St... I normally don't enjoy being this high up, but it was kind of exhilarating running on a treadmill while looking out to the big city. You could see nothing but skyscrapers and the Hudson all the way to the West. I have to say, this was pretty neat...

Philly

The great thing about living in New York is you have easy access to all the other cities on the East Coast, like Philadelphia or Boston. This past weekend, we took one of the Chinatown buses to Philly, to visit our pal Camille. It was such a nice weekend get-away. Just hop on the bus and 2 hours later you're whisked away into another city. Lots of historical landmarks there... we saw Independence Hall, the Liberty bell, and visited the art museum off of Ben Franklin parkway (in addition to taking pictures with the rocky statue, adriiian!). Definitely coming back for another visit. Maybe when it's warmer. Some photos to come...

More pics!

Just a few pics to chew on... one from breakfast this morning in our new apt, one from last night - Mariah, Amy, Jeff, and Amalia - all Seattle folk came by our new pad - and a few from Christmas when Matt & Agnus were in town... (Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave window display et) enjoy.
